Prater & York was retained by Bank of America US
Trust to provide remediation services at a petroleum release site located
in
Milledgeville
,
Georgia
. The site is a former
auto service operation and retail gasoline outlet. Dissolved benzene concentrations
ranging from 20,000 to 40,000 ug/L have been detected at the site. A Corrective Action Plan (CAP) –
Part B approved by the Georgia EPD USTMP provides for the utilization of
In-Situ Chemical Oxidation (ISCO) – Enhanced Fluid Recovery (EFR) ®
technology to reduce dissolved benzene concentrations at the site. By combining the ISCO with EFR, maximum
spreading of the oxidant (hydrogen peroxide) is achieved. ISCO-EFR® has
proven successful in reducing dissolved benzene concentrations up to 95%
at the site. Prater & York is currently implementing the groundwater
remediation and monitoring on a quarterly basis.
