Prater & York's Robert M. York, P.G. selected for The Georgia Academy of Economic Development's 2010 Class.
Mr. York was recently one of approximately thirty-five community leaders selected to participate in the 2010 Georgia Academy of Economic Development for the ten county Three Rivers Regional Commission. The Academy's multi-day regional program provides participants with an understanding of the complexities of economic and community development, and tools to assist in the development of their region. The program, through a variety of defined activities, takes an in-depth review of possible economic development opportunities and strategies. The multi-day program takes place over a four-month period, including five days of instruction combining lecture, exercises, guest expert presentations, and other forums to keep the program interesting and interactive.The Academy's program provides crucial leadership training as well, in such areas as consensus building, team development, and other critical leadership skills. Started in 1993, the Georgia Academy's mission is to assist Georgia's leaders in their economic development efforts by providing an understanding of the critical processes, strategies and components involved in improving their local and regional economies and achieving economic success in today's global economy. Mr. York will be Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce in 2011.

Prater & York recently teamed with Neidert & Neidert and Tetra Tech to conduct soil
surveys
at remote border patrol locations in North Dakota. The on-going project consists of identifying lead impacted soils at outdoor firing ranges.
Prater & York announces City of Atlanta Due Diligence effort.
Prater & York was recently selected by Integral Development of Atlanta, Georgia as the environmental consultant for a redevelopment project at a portion of the former University Homes Development of the Housing Authority of the City of Atlanta, Georgia located near the AAU campuses in downtown Atlanta. Integral is currently planning to redevelop a portion of the former housing complex into a mid-rise Senior Citizens Building. Prater & York has been tasked with completing a Phase I Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) according to the Georgia Department of Community Affairs (DCA) Office of Affordable Housing Environmental Manual. Additional services include a comprehensive Phase II ESA and a Tier 1 Vapor Intrusion Analysis per ASTM 2600-08.

Trust to provide remediation services at a petroleum release site located
in
Milledgeville
,
Georgia
. The site is a former
auto service operation and retail gasoline outlet. Dissolved benzene concentrations
ranging from 20,000 to 40,000 ug/L have been detected at the site. A Corrective Action Plan (CAP) –
Part B approved by the Georgia EPD USTMP provides for the utilization of
In-Situ Chemical Oxidation (ISCO) – Enhanced Fluid Recovery (EFR) ®
technology to reduce dissolved benzene concentrations at the site. By combining the ISCO with EFR, maximum
spreading of the oxidant (hydrogen peroxide) is achieved. ISCO-EFR® has
proven successful in reducing dissolved benzene concentrations up to 95%
at the site. Prater & York is currently implementing the groundwater
remediation and monitoring on a quarterly basis.

by Georgia Speaker of the House Glenn Richardson.
Prater & York Principal Robert M. York, P.G. was recently
appointed to the Governor's Middle Chattahoochee
District Regional Water Council. This process was mandated in the 2004 Comprehensive State-wide
Water Management Planning Act (O.C.G.A. §12-5-522(a)). The Georgia House and Senate adopted
the State Water Plan in January 2008, which serves as the foundation for
the Planning Guidance. The Plan created ten new water planning regions
that will join the existing Metro Water District. The Council’s will recommend
regional water plans that will promote the sustainable management of
water resources to support the state and region’s economy, protect
the public health and natural systems, and enhance the quality of life
for all citizens. The Council
represents an eleven county region; Haralson, Carroll, Heard, Troup,
Harris, Muscogee, Chattahoochee,
Randolph
,
Stewart, Quitman, and Clay.
